Ninety kilometres from the Punjab plains to the Kangra valley, ending at Dharamshala — the seat of the Dalai Lama and one of India's most-loved hill towns. The drive is slightly gentler than the Dalhousie run, with the Dhauladhar range in view for the last half hour.
From Pathankot the road runs south-east via Nurpur and Kangra, passing the famous Kangra Fort along the way. It's an easy 2h 30m drive in good weather, and the last stretch into Dharamshala offers a full view of the snow-capped Dhauladhar range on a clear day. McLeodganj is another 5 km further up — we can drop you at either.
