One hundred and ninety-five kilometres up NH44 through Jammu to the base of the Trikuta hills at Katra. Whether it's a family jatha or a couple's darshan trip, this is a route we've been doing for years — comfortably, safely, and with drivers who understand the Vaishno Devi rhythm.
The drive leaves Pathankot on NH44, crosses into J&K after Kathua, and rolls through Samba and Jammu. From Jammu it's another 50 km climb to Katra at the foot of the Trikuta hills. Total 195 km, comfortable in 4h 30m. Most travellers stay overnight at Katra before the darshan climb the next morning.
For extended families and groups, we recommend the 17-seater Tempo Traveller or the luxury Urbania. Both have roof carriers for the jatha kit.
Our driver stays with the vehicle at Katra overnight. Ready when you are, no extra pickup fee for the return leg.
We also do Jammu Airport → Katra direct (50 km, 1h 30m) if you're flying in and going straight to darshan.
What you'll pass and where the drive breaks — useful if you're planning tea stops or sightseeing detours.
